We would like to take this opportunity to thank all Associate Editors, Executive Editors, Reviewers, Authors, and the readers of REVSTAT for their support. In the future, it is our continuous goal to improve the profile of the REVSTAT Journal, next to the objectives of its readers, answering not only to the theoretical, methodological, and applied topics but also to the nowadays bigdata paradigm.»
In this REVSTAT issue, the invited paper is Calibration of the bulk and extremes of spatial data by Maria Antónia Amaral-Turkman and co-authors (2021). They concentrated on calibrating the bulk and the extremes of data, simultaneously, avoiding methods that rely on the choice of a threshold.
As Amaral-Turkman is a pioneer in the development of Bayesian Statistics, this publication also aims to celebrate the International Year of Women in Statistics and Data Science (#IYWSDS) from May 2020 through July 2021. The IYWSDS was launched on 12 May 2020 with commemorating the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.

This year we celebrate on 20 October 2020 the third World Statistics Day (WSD).
The first WSD was celebrated on 20 October 2010 with the topic Service, professionalism, integrity celebrating the many contributions and achievements of official statistics. Later on, in June 2015, the United Nations (UN) General Assembly adopted a resolution, in which 20 October 2015 was designated as the second WSD, with the theme Better data, better lives; moreover, it was decided to celebrate the WSD every five years on 20 October.
The WSD 2020 was launched by the UN Statistical Commission at the 51st Session, and will be commemorated around the world under the theme Connecting the world with data we can trust, giving head to the importance of trust on reliable data in official statistics.
AISC 2018 - Advances in Interdisciplinary Statistics and Combinatorics

REVSTAT - Statistical Journal is an open access blind peer-reviewed journal published quarterly, by Statistics Portugal. The aim of REVSTAT - Statistical Journal is to publish articles of high scientific content, developing Statistical Science focused on innovative theory, methods, and applications in different fields of science.
